Multi-storey car park for the Rijnstate hospital in Arnhem

Country: Netherlands
Place: Arnhem
Year: 2005
Architect: Nijst Idema Architecten, Amsterdam
Used Products: Hoesch Additiv Floor

In view of the increasing volume of traffic, the effective use of car parks gains ever more importance. When ground level car parks are fully used and no more space is available for parking cars, the erection of multi-storey car parks is inevitable.

Already from a large distance, the colourful image of the various parking decks presents a striking visual appearance. The floors of two opposite mezzanines are painted in one of five light colours. The harmonized NCS colours of yellow, orange, red, green and blue were chosen by the architects for their "rainbow" effect. They are adapted to the colours used in the hospital and ensure perfect harmony with the surroundings. As in the hospital, where the wards are identified by colours, they facilitate orientation in the car park. In addition to the floor sections of Hoesch Additive Floor, the steel structure and parking lot markings on the concrete floors are painted in a corresponding colour. With its indirectly illuminated parking floors this attractive building makes a spectacular impression, especially in the evening. The unique colour selection gives the car park an open and friendly character. The entry areas without any columns, transparency and easy traffic routing provide optimum comfort and safety.
